State Competition To Be Held April 16-17

We have 16 teams participating in this year’s Georgia Envirothon State Competition to be held at Camp Will-A-Way at Ft. Yargo State Park in Winder, Ga.

The competition will begin on Friday, April 16 with Registration at 11:30 a.m. After a brief orientation, teams will be given this year’s Current Environmental Scenario and will have 3 hours to prepare their presentation. Presentations will be made throughout the afternoon from 3:45 until 7 p.m. Following dinner, participants will be treated to the evening program, Reptiles! presented by Pete Griffin, Wildlife Interpretative Specialist at the Charlie Elliot Wildlife Center.

Teams will also have access to the camp’s recreational amenities including softball, kickball, volleyball, and Frisbee golf. The camp will provide the needed equipment.

On Saturday, following breakfast, teams will compete in the remaining four competition stations, forestry, soils, water, and wildlife for a chance to represent Georgia at the Canon Envirothon to be held August 1-6 at the University of California in Fresno, California.
