The Georgia Envirothon provides high school students in Georgia with hands on, science based training in natural resource and ecology topics in a challenging and competitive atmosphere. The environmental education program consists of the annual Canon Envirothon Competition in which winning teams from participating states and Canadian provinces compete for recognition and scholarships by demonstrating their knowledge of environmental science and natural resource management.

Charlie participated in the Georgia Envirothon when he was in High School. Currently a student at North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega, Charlie, a math major, credits his participation in the Georgia Envirothon with helping him to decide to also pursue a minor in biology.
